HAVING A CENTRALISED MARKET ATTRACTS PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR ROLES TO THE SAME SPACE

A centralised market brings together people from all walks of life to achieve a common task in the same space. As these people share an intimate setting while they pick and choose the freshest vegetables, it allows interactions to happen more naturally.

Design Researched in 2015

Project Orange seeks to uncover the underlying attitudes and mindset of the older population (aged 55 and above) in Chong Pang, so that future healthcare services can be tailored for them.

Paramount to our understanding of the population was getting in touch with the ground by going out into the community to interact with people in their living environment, familiarise ourselves with their daily routines,

and learn and empathise with their habits and needs.

We scoped 4 main areas which are important for us to sufficiently understand the elderly population there. Insights were derived from this community of seniors to our healthcare professionals and young workers who cannot actively participate in their experiences as older persons. Through an exhibition, we shared their compelling stories.
