A PRICELESS HEIRLOOM THAT FACILITATES
THE ELDERLY IN BRINGING MEMORIES TO LIFE
Designed in 2009
*Mental illnesses in senior years of life are often precede by depressions. Although most mental illnesses are serious and incurable, preventive measures could help to delay or even prevent it from happening. One usual yet unnoticeable activity, reminiscence or sometimes refer as story-telling, can allow them to stay socially connected, ensuring continuity in life and having a life-long sense of self-worth. All these aspects of life keep a mentally sound mind.
Reminiscence usually involves a medium such as a personal item, favourite song or tune, and related photographs. The medium could also be seen as a facilitator who conducts reminiscene therapy and triggers elderly by asking questions about their past so they can relieve and share about their past experiences. Reminiscence or story-telling with visitors, children, grandchildren is a very usual activity but to do it effectively means, teller(elderly) and listeners get the most out of it, and this is often overlooked.
*Mental Illness includes Pseudodementias (forgetful, disoriented, or confused because they have developed a quickly reversible condition that is totally unrelated to dementia), Dementia (confusion, memory loss, and disorientation, irreversible condition), Alzheimer’s disease (causes the brain’s cells to die, affects a greater number of intellectual, emotional and behavioral abilities)

Preserving life stories while reminiscing good old times through photographs sharing sessions. There are two main functions; Magnifying Mode digitises analogue photographs in a photo-album; preserving life-stories in the process. Digital Viewing Mode stores recently taken digital photographs as well as digitised analogue photographs.
